Luke Cage Season 3: Mike Colter Teases The Power Man’s Corruption And Downfall

It looks like the moral center of Marvel's Power Man (Mike Colter) is going to be put to the test in the third season of Luke Cage.

Marvel fans who've seen the latest season of Luke Cage know that while with the existing kingpins of Harlem had been removed from power, Mariah Dillard (Alfre Woodard) gave Harlem's Paradise to Luke, making him the new king of crime in the hood.

Though Luke tries to resist the temptation of Power, the bullet-proof Marvel hero is definitely going to struggle to do the right thing in the next batch of episodes for Luke Cage.

Speaking with fans at this year's Baltimore Comic-Con (via ComicBook.com), Colter decided to update everyone about the show's status, saying that showrunner Cheo Hari Coker has been working on the script for the show's third season. The actor also decided to give fans an idea of what's to come n the next season of the series, revealing that the show will explore how Luke tries to cope with life on top of the crime ring in Harlem.

"I think the plan for season 3 is to explore Luke's ability to govern and be fair. In the end, we talk about there being a new sheriff in town, a new king in Harlem," Colter told fans during the panel. "We're going to see how he deals with this power because we know absolute power can corrupt absolutely. And sometimes when you don't have someone checking you, someone to put you in place, someone to tell you 'you can't do that,' we sometimes get out of control. We see that everywhere."

In the beginning, fans are going to see Luke confidently believing that he can run Harlem's kingdom of crime without becoming corrupt. However, in his hubris, the power man fails.

"Luke is in Harlem, and so Harlem is going to be his place that he's going to have to control. And I think he's decided to use organized crime in a very, not practical way. I think he thinks he can be a part of it but not be in it. I think he thinks he can control it but not get his hands dirty. We're going to find out."

Giving the Power Man influence and political power definitely seems like a bold move from Luke Cage's writers, and we definitely can't wait to see what becomes of this part of Luke's journey.

Luke Cage season 3 is expected to release sometime in 2019.
