Ludwig Göransson scored a Golden Globes Award this year for Best Original Score in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, making him one T (Tony) short of an EGOT. In the meantime, with increased interest in the musician and his personal life, fans are curious to know more about his wife, Serena McKinney.

McKinney and Göransson actually worked side by side on the music for Oppenheimer. McKinney is an accomplished violinist, best known for her works on cult classics such as Alita: Battle Angel, I Am Legend, and the 2014 Godzilla.

Göransson often works closely with his wife, Serena, which would explain why, generally speaking, his violin scores shine particularly bright.

McKinney hails from Utah, and discovered her passion for violin early in life. Later she went to study with Utah Symphony concertmaster Ralph Matson.

She moved on to the Colburn School of Performing Arts in Los Angeles, where she formed the Janaki String Trio with Katie Kadararuch (viola) and Arnold Chori (cello).

McKinney has also played violin on the soundtracks of various major animated feature films such as Toy Story 4, The LEGO Movie 2, The Incredibles 2, and even for the MCU's Spider-Man: Homecoming.

After getting married in 2018 and having a son, Ludwig Göransson and Serena McKinney opted to keep their family a bit more private.

On the professional side, however, they collaborated on various projects over the years, including Oppenheimer, The Mandalorian and Venom, to name a few.

Oppenheimer is actually their second Christopher Nolan project, as they also worked on his 2020 film, Tenet.

Göransson has previously won an Oscar for Black Panther, two Emmys for The Mandalorian and Record of the Year, and Song of the Year Grammys award for his works with Childish Gambino.

The 2024 Golden Globe Awards makes Göransson's fourth nomination and first win in the Best Original Score category.

This year, he was lined up against Jerskin Fendrix (Poor Things), the late Robbie Robertson (Killers of the Flower Moon), Mica Levi (The Zone of Interest), Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse), and Joe Hisaishi (The Boy and the Heron).
