We previously reported that new plans from Lucasfilm allegedly call for multiple standalone Darth Bane projects on the big screen but it still remains a mystery which actor they're actually considering for the coveted Star Wars role, or if they're even toying with the idea at all.
Now, a new rumor from the good folks over at Vocal suggests that Guardians of the Galaxy actor Dave Bautista is a strong contender to play the fan-favorite Sith Lord from the expanded universe in Lucasfilm's new projects. Of course, nothing has been confirmed as of writing so take everything with a grain of salt. If Big Dave was to be asked though, he seems to be down with the idea and has in fact expressed his interest in 2016 to take on the role, long before Disney decided to expand the Star Wars universe.
Aesthetically speaking, it can't be denied that Dave is the perfect candidate to play Darth Bane thanks to his imposing physique and overall lool. To his credit, he really does look the part. And with the success he achieved for his stint in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I think now's the perfect time for the ex-WWE superstar to branch out and explore new horizons. He did just that with the upcoming Dune remake so I guess things are going pretty smoothly for him. The true question now is if Bautista has what it takes to become one with the dark side.
