Lucasfilm Executive Reveals New Star Wars: The Mandalorian Sketch

Star Wars: The Mandalorian might not be set to return till the fourth quarter of the year, but it looks like Lucasfilm has begun building up the hype for the critically-acclaimed Star Wars series.

Taking to Twitter, Lucasfilm Vice President and Executive Creative Director Doug Chiang decided to share a sketch taken from the first season of The Mandalorian. The picture features the Mando Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) carrying Baby Yoda in his arms while he stands strong. The drawing is done in a pen and mark style similar to the other sketches that China's posted on the social media site.

The art piece doesn't really reveal anything new, but it does remind fans that season 2 of the series is on the way. There's a whole lot of excitement over the next batch of episodes. The series still has a lot of questions to answer. Where does Baby Yoda really come from? What does the Empire want to do with the Child? Why does Moff Gideon have a dark saber?

There have been multiple theories online the most recent of which connects The Mandalorian to an episode of The Clone Wars where Palpatine is collecting Force-sensitive children for experimentation. In the episode "Children of the Force" the Emperor is trying a surgical procedure called "surgical slave conditioning" which renders children submissive to any of Palpatine's Dark Side commands. Star Wars fans speculate that Moff Gideon hopes to do the same to Baby Yoda.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian season 2 is expected to premiere later this year.
