It goes without saying that when you think about the Star Wars universe, the name Luke Skywalker instantaneously comes to mind. Despite the character, played by screen legend Mark Hamill ending his storied tenure after The Rise of Skywalker, the production company still found ways to utilize the fan-favorite Jedi.

So far, Luke has appeared in two MandoVerse shows and there were even persistent rumors suggesting that he will eventually get his own standalone show. Well, that seems to be off the table now and according to a new rumor, Lucasfilm is done with the character.

The Den of Nerds recently reported that Lucasfilm no longer wants to use the famed Jedi Master for future Star Wars content. As per the insider's sources, Kathleen Kennedy doesn't want to rely on the character, hence the reason Grogu reunited with Din Djarin during the events of The Book of Boba Fett.

This is probably the reason why Luke doesn't show up in The Mandalorian Season 3 despite previous rumors claiming he'll make another surprise cameo appearance.

Now, before you raise your eyebrows and question the potential decision, I totally get where Kennedy is coming from. You see, relying on legacy characters like Luke can only do so much for the franchise and if they're really adamant about expanding it, it's only natural that they'll establish the newer guard.

Then again, Luke's most recent appearances in the MandoVerse proved that he is still a hot commodity in the franchise so nostalgia aside, it's hard to ignore the fact that he remains one of the most influential characters in the franchise.
