Webtoons have inspired many animated shows, but one that fans are most excited about is Lore Olympus. Even though there’s no premiere date in sight, Wattpad WEBTOON Studios co-head Sydney Bright shared a new update on the Lore Olympus animated series.
Bright shared the update during our recent interview with her. Along with their upcoming animated show, Bright also talked about the studio’s approach to its other projects.
Of course, the highlight for many is the latest Lore Olympus update. After all, it has been some time now since the animated adaptation of this mega-popular webtoon was announced.
Lore Olympus: Webtoon’s Most Popular Series
WEBTOON is a South Korean comic platform that has become popular around the world thanks to its wide range of webtoons, including titles like True Beauty, which is confirmed to be getting an animated adaptation soon.
But perhaps the most popular WEBTOON right now internationally is Lore Olympus by Rachel Smythe.
This series has over a billion views as of August 2023. On top of this, the series has been honored with the Harvey Award and two Eisner Awards.
The series’ popularity is thanks in large part to its combination of a beautiful art style and a unique twist to a classic story.
As its title implies, Lore Olympus is based on Greek mythology, but it is a modern reinterpretation of it. The series follows the story of Persephone and Hades in a modern setting.
Along with praise for its story and art style, Lore Olympus has also gotten acclaim for tackling heavier themes from the original mythology.

Wattpad WEBTOON Studios Co-Head Shares Lore Olympus Animated Series Update
Given its popularity, the Lore Olympus animated series is arguably the most anticipated project of Wattpad WEBTOON Studios. The studio co-head Sydney Bright echoed this in our recent interview with her.
She said that this is also the project she is most excited about, saying how “it's a great responsibility to bring such beautiful artistry into an adaptation and onto screen.”
Bright then shared that everyone involved in the show’s production is passionate about the material and that their goal is to make it an honest adaptation of what Lore Olympus would look like on screen.
As for when to expect its release, Bright said that there is no concrete information about the series so far.
She did mention that she’s grateful to their partners at The Jim Henson Company, indicating that the two companies are still working together.
For now, fans will have to wait a bit longer for the animated series. At least, the original webtoon is still ongoing, with new chapters being released every week.
