Loki Director Explains Deleted 'Glorious' Stark Tower Scene

There is little doubt that the Loki trailers had a lot of awesome scenes that had people hyped up for the show. Unfortunately, some of the scenes were never shown in the episodes themselves.

So what happened to those scenes that included Loki returning to the Stark Tower? Director Kate Herron explained why the sequence was ultimately deleted.

In the first look trailer for Loki that was shared during Disney Investor Day last year, fans got to see the God of Mischief looking around Stark Tower before turning and saying, "Glorious." It's a simple scene but one that clearly brings us back to the Battle of New York when Loki showed up at Tony Stark's office in the first Avengers film.

But what was happening here and why was it removed from Loki? Herron told The Direct that it was supposed to be part of the show's opening scene.

"Originally, I'd filmed a bit basically [where] it's just him in the mirror before the Avengers arrive, and that's where that would've gone. That, I guess, would've been our opening," Herron said. She then added that there was so much more to see but they ultimately chose to use archive footage.

"We restructured a bit at the beginning because we added that in with the Hulk smash. Originally, it was written as the opening of the show, but then we took it out and we added in bits from the films," Herron stated. "Essentially, it actually would've been beforehand, because it's before the Avengers...it [was] meant to be an earlier in the day moment. Basically, before anything kicks off."

It would have been interesting to see if there was another way that Loki would handle the situation where he had to face Tony during the Battle of New York. For now, we're just hoping that the deleted scene will eventually turn up in a special Loki feature soon. Hopefully, this will be announced before the end of the year.

All episodes of Loki are now streaming on Disney+. The show has since been renewed although Loki Season 2 has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
