Another classic Disney fairy tale is getting a live-action adaptation. According to Deadline, Peter Hedges is writing a script loosely based on the original Pinocchio, which is a story about a wooden marionette who wishes to be a real boy. Pinocchio's dream comes true, but is prone to bending the truth, and each time he does, his nose extends.
Disney's Pinocchio isn't the only Pinocchio film being developed. Guillermo del Toro and the studio behind The Book of Life are developing a darker version of Pinocchio, and it will be stop-motion animated.
Pinocchio is just one of the classic Disney fairy tales getting live-action adaptations. A live-action Winnie the Pooh, Mulan, and Beauty and the Beast are in the works.
