When writer/director Rhys Frake-Waterfield learned that the original book would fall into the public domain, he acted fast.

Even though he only had a low budget for the film, he used his idea of a slasher spinoff of the beloved children's book.

Visibly absent from the first movie, fans wondered why Tigger was omitted. But as Frake-Waterfield revealed, Tigger was not part of the public domain yet when his movie went into production. This meant he had to exclude Tigger from his film.

Because of the unexpected success of the first film, Frake-Waterfield earned a higher budget for the sequel. And when he learned that Tigger would be entering the public domain on January 2024, he acted fast.

Just one month prior to the scheduled release of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, the director made sure to include the character in the film. Here's a quick teaser of Lewis Santer as Tigger in Blood and Honey 2:

Is Tigger Human?

Describing Tigger's character in Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, producer Scott Jeffrey says:

"Tigger is incredibly violent. He loves to torture his victims before killing them.”

But is Tigger human? In one of his character pages, Tigger is described as a cross between a human and a tiger. Just like Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet, Rabbit, and the others, Christopher Robin befriended Tigger as a child.

Among all the crossbreeds, Tigger is considered the most vile. He even ate Eeyore, which led him to become feral and insane. Before killing his victim, he would torture him.

Although Tigger is now in the public domain, it's important to clarify that his character in Blood and Honey 2 is not a live-action adaptation of the Disney counterpart.

The film character is loosely based on the cartoon. This is also the first depiction of Tigger that is not catered towards children.

To avoid any copyright issues with Disney, Frake-Waterfield has given Tigger a different accent.
