Leia, Poe, and Captain Phasma Appear in Extended Sneak Peek for Star Wars Resistance

October is just around the corner, and Disney Channel is gearing up for the premiere of their new series Star Wars Resistance. An extended sneak peek has been released, and it gives us the return of several main characters as well as a look at some space pirates.

Kazuda Xiono, a young pilot for the Resistance, is tasked with a top secret mission to investigate the First Order, a growing threat in the galaxy.

It's worth noting that the original actors from the films have been asked to reprise their roles in the show. Poe is voiced by Oscar Isaac and Phasma by Gwendoline Christie. Since they couldn't ask Carrie Fisher to reprise her role as Leia, they brought in Rachel Butera to take over. So far, she looks like she got the voice really well.

While all the other trailers have given us a look at the racers as well as the world of the Colossus, this is the first preview to give us a look outside of the refueling station. We have a look at some pirates, and some new ships, plus we get to see the rising power of the First Order complete with Starkiller Base.

Admittedly, reception for the show has come out to be as divisive as The Last Jedi. A lot of fans think that the humor is a tad too childish for the series, while others are not a fan of the cell-shaded animation. I think everyone is forgetting that the main target audience for this show are the kids—and I'm sure they'll grow to love Star Wars Resistance.

If anything, the violent reaction for this series could be said about shows like Clone Wars and Rebels as well. By the end of the run for both shows, fans were eventually hooked. No doubt the same could be happening for Resistance.

Star Wars Resistance premieres on Disney Channel Oct. 7.
