Legendary Dragon Ball Voice Actor Joins the Digimon Adventure Reboot

Fans are pretty excited for Toei Animation's upcoming Digimon Adventure reboot, which will retell the story of Taichi, Yamato, and the others with a couple of differences. The first trailer showed that the tamers wouldn't always be on File Island, which was a heartbreaker for a lot of us younger folks. It won't all be new however as a veteran voice actor for Digimon and Dragon Ball will be joining the reboot.

Oricon News has confirmed that Masako Nozawa, who voices Son Goku in Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball Z Kai, and Dragon Ball Super, will be joining the series as its narrator. This isn't a new role for her since Nozawa has already voiced the narrator for Digimon in previous years and also provided her vocals for Guilmon in the acclaimed Digimon Tamers series.

The hiring of Nozawa adds a sense of familiarity to the Digimon Adventure reboot cast and it will be interesting to see if other older cast members are added. We'll have to wait and see but that shouldn't be a problem as long as the actual work is really good. Knowing that its Toei Animation means that the actual animation will only be good in certain moments but strong voice acting and storytelling should be enough for us.

Digimon Adventure will return to Japanese television screens on April 15, assuming that the Coronavirus doesn't delay it.
