Lee Jun Young and his family are in a tough time following the death of the idol’s grandmother.

Amid his success as an idol, Lee Jun Young also found fame as an actor since his 2017 debut in the TV drama, Avengers Social Club. He has been tapped to star in more projects in the years thereafter, with May I Help You? as his latest work.

Lee Jun Young, however, had to halt his schedule following his grandmother’s death.

Lee Jun Young’s Grandmother Dead

Xports News cited the statement released by Lee Jun Young’s agency, Jflex, on Wednesday, in which it confirmed the passing of the actor’s loved one.

“Today, Lee Jun Young’s paternal grandmother passed away,” a representative said.

Lee Jun Young has since cancelled his scheduled activities. The publication confirmed that the idol-turned-actor is currently at the funeral home with his family.

His grandmother’s wake is ongoing at a Hanyang University Hospital funeral home in Seoul. Meanwhile, a funeral procession will be held on Jan. 27.

Her cause of death has not been disclosed to the public yet.

Lee Jun Young’s Latest Project

His grandmother’s passing occurred weeks after Lee Jun Young’s latest K-drama, May I Help You?, dropped its final episode on Dec. 22. He starred in the series alongside Girl’s Day member Hyeri.

In the drama, he played the role of Butler Kim or Kim Tae Hee. He works as the only employee of the daily errand service, Ildangbaek.

Before the drama ended, Lee Jun Young expressed his gratitude to fans and viewers who continuously supported them.

“I sincerely thank the many people who have been watching and cheering on ‘May I Help You?’ up until now. I hope that you’ll stay with us through the remaining episodes. I also hope that you’ll be able to wrap up the year on a happy note and that next year will be full of good fortune for you as well,” he went on.

Lee Jun Young first became an artist when he debuted with UKISS in 2014. He soon joined the survival program, The Unit, and managed to promote with UNB — which consisted of the finalists of the show — from 2018 to 2019.
