Leaked Star Wars 9 Scene Description Has Fans Worrying The Movie’s A Rehash Of ROTJ

Star Wars: The Force Awakens might have raked in more than $2 billion at the global box office during its theatrical run in cinemas back in 2015, however, fans were a bit disappointed by how similar the film was to the original Star Wars film, A New Hope. Now, with The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams working on Star Wars: Episode IX, fans are worrying that the upcoming Star Wars entry might end up as a rehash of Return of the Jedi, especially with new leaks out online.

According to a new report by Movie Web, there's a new Episode IX scene description circulating online, and in it are whispers of a new super weapon. Though the weapon sounds a whole lot larger than another Death Star, there has been speculation that the gadget could very well be the World Devastator, a superweapon from the Star Wars expanded universe.

Check out the scene description down here:

"Kylo Ren inside his throne room, assumed to be the headquarters of the First Order, viewing a hologram form a device held in his hand. Kylo appears to be examining three large super weapons that are in a cylindrical shape with an enormous engine on each side of each super weapon of this ship/weapon, destroying terrain on a planet. The engine burner is colored red and the blast from the bottom of these three massive weapons is colored blue, impacting a surface causing astronomical destruction. Parts of the weapon seem to be under construction and not finished."

While the weapon certainly doesn't sound like a new Starkiller Base, this new superweapon has fans a bit considered. While it's very likely that the Episode IX scene description is pointing to the World Devastator, it seems like some fans are growing a bit tired of the super weapons in the Star Wars franchise, complaining that almost each and every Star Wars film has to have some sort of Death Star to knock down a few planets across the galaxy. Return of the Jedi had the Deathstar 2, and now everyone's worried that Abrams is going to bring in another big superweapon into Episode IX.

Of course, while everyone's busy worrying their hearts out, fans ought to remember to take this new report with a grain of salt. The scene description hasn't been confirmed yet – so it's also possible that Abrams has something else prepared for everyone in Episode IX. Let's just cross our fingers and hope for the best.

Star Wars: Episode IX hits cinemas December 20, 2019.
