In the sneak peek released exclusively by TV Insider, Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) attempts to help a student named Naomi (Olivia Daponde), who has set a bus on fire during a school trip after being assaulted. However, her approach is not what viewers have come to expect from the seasoned SVU leader.

Benson's Unusual Approach in Law & Order: SVU Season 24 Episode 20
Benson, accompanied by Detective Grace Muncy (Molly Burnett), tries to connect with Naomi and understand what led to her outburst. She offers the teenager snacks and tries to empathize with her. However, Naomi is not interested in opening up to them.
Despite Benson's many years of experience in SVU, she struggles to connect with Naomi and understand why she set the bus on fire. Benson theorizes that perhaps something else may have triggered Naomi's reaction, but the young student is not interested in discussing the matter any further.
Sergeant Odafin "Fin" Tutuola (Ice T) suspects that a witness in the case may not be telling the whole truth. As the SVU team investigates the case, they discover a series of events that could be linked to the crime.
