To give you a refresher, the Creed III and star of the Marvel Cinematic Universe made headlines last March following his involvement in a domestic dispute with a woman who turned out to be his girlfriend.

Majors was arrested in New York and charged with assault, strangulation, and harassment but later got released. Since then, the actor's camp has been committed to clearing his name up, even presenting pieces of evidence that could prove his innocence.

Now, new details are coming to light following the actor's first court hearing. According to a report from Deadline, should Jonathan be proven guilty of the allegations, could be imprisoned for up to a year.

The outlet writes: "The class A misdemeanor has a maximum possible sentence of 12 months behind bars or a three-year probation term."

Jonathan participated in the court hearing through Zoom for the Manhattan District Attorney's office, although Deadline reports that he had little to say. The actor's attorney did much of the talking for him, claiming that the proceedings was a by-product of “the racial bias that permeates the criminal justice system.”

Of course, this new development is quite concerning for the actor and if he ends up being put behind bars, it will most certainly force Marvel Studios to sever its ties with the actor which would be a major blow not only for him but for the franchise's ongoing Multiverse Saga.

Previously, it was reported by multiple sources that Marvel Studios has no plans of firing the actor despite his growing controversies. Now, it'll be interesting to see what happens next.

Jonathan Majors' next hearing will take place on June 13.
