Kunal Nayyar Says Big Bang Theory Ending Is 'Bittersweet'

It's official: The Big Bang Theory Season 12 is the final season of the long-running CBS series and fans are absolutely devastated. Although most of the cast are also hoping for the best, Kunal Nayyar has declared that the show's upcoming conclusion is "bittersweet."

Nayyar has played Rajesh Koothrappali since the show's first season and fans have seen the character grow so much since 2007. It's a role that endeared him to thousands of viewers so Nayyar is understandably still shaken by the show coming to an end, as he revealed to Entertainment Tonight.

"It's bittersweet obviously," he said. "I'm ready for the next phase of my life [after] 12 years, yet at the same time, I'm sad to be saying goodbye to my family. It just happened yesterday so I'm still trying to process all of it."

Although Nayyar is still dealing with the show's end, he did tease that the final season is "the greatest season that we're ever gonna do." He also shared that the last day of taping will happen on his birthday next year and commented that it would be "an interesting night."

Considering that Nayyar's next birthday is on April 30, we still have some time to mourn over the end of The Big Bang Theory. Hopefully, he is right about the final season being the greatest one so the show can go out with, ahem, a big bang.

The Big Bang Theory Season 12 premiere date is scheduled for September 24.
