It goes without saying that Sony Pictures' Spider-Man universe has been a hit-and-miss since its inception but as of late, the production company has been riding a huge wave of momentum with the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

As it stands, Sony is working on several live-action projects set featuring a who's who of Spidey-related characters — El Muerto, Madame Web, and Kraven the Hunter.

Speaking of Sergei Kravinoff, the villain, often considered one of Spider-Man's biggest foes is generating a ton of buzz online but not for good reason. Apparently, the character's live-action look has already surfaced online and fans aren't thrilled with his appearance.

A leaked image of Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Kraven, seemingly taken from a teaser is spreading like wildfire all over social media. Intriguingly, the Avengers: Age of Ultron star looks nothing like the Kraven most of us are familiar with.

Looking less imposing than his comic book counterpart, the actor sports what looks to be a protective vest and a longer hairstyle instead of Kraven's furry outfit with the iconic lion design. He also looks noticeably "smaller" in body frame compared to the usual bulked-up Kraven.

Naturally, it sparked backlash online with fans already concerned about how the film would end up looking. Check out some of the reactions below:

To be fair, it's a little too early to place our judgment because apart from set images, we've yet to see Kraven's full live-action look. If anything, the image that is currently making the rounds probably depicts the character in his early years but then again, we could be wrong.

Hopefully, the film lives up to the hype, especially now that all the momentum in the world is in Sony's corner with the success of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Kraven the Hunter is currently scheduled for theatrical release on October 6, 2023
