When Kit Harington made his first (and so far the only) appearance in the MCU as Dane Whitman on Eternals, it seemed like they were setting up his character's path as the Black Knight as evidenced by the post-credits scene that also featured the voice appearance of Mahershala Ali's Blade.

As a result, fans have presumed that the character's next MCU appearance will be in the upcoming Blade film that was supposedly set to begin production but is now delayed due to the ongoing writers' strike.

Now, we finally have the clarification surrounding the character's rumored appearance in the upcoming movie coming from the actor himself.

In his recent appearance at the Superhero Comic-Con and Car Show (via The Direct), Harington addressed the rumors surrounding his alleged return as Dane Whitman in Blade.

While he clarified that the post-credits scene of Eternals did set up his future in the MCU, he also shut down the speculations that he will be making an appearance in the upcoming movie.

"The honest answer is I think that’s the intention with the character. I think there was some misunderstanding about whether he was going to be in the Blade movie. He was never meant to be in the Blade movie and isn’t," he said.

"At this stage, I don’t know. At this stage, I hope he gets used. I know there’s some really fascinating parts of that character which would be beneficial to delve into and interesting, which is the aspects around his mental health things and specifically about addiction with that character which I think is really interesting."

As usual, the actor declined to reveal any details about whether his MCU return has already been set up.

He added, "So I hope they use him. I hope that the Black Knight comes along. I hope that Dane Whitman is that character but, at this stage, I can’t tell you anything. But I think the intention is to develop him at some point."

It sounds like we won't be seeing Dane Whitman in the Blade movie despite the post-credits scenes' seeming indication given that he interacted with the vampire hunter during the moment.

As Marvel Studios is still mapping out its future including the characters from Eternals, we might be hearing more official news and confirmation regarding it in the near future.
