New information on Pokemon Sword & Shield was released recently and fans were fairly amused when Obstagoon was revealed. The Pokemon is an exclusive new evolution to Galarian Zigzagoon and Linoone, which shocked a lot of fans since this opens the door for many other Galarian Pokemon to get new evolutions. However, we should address the big elephant in the room; this Pokemon looks like KISS frontman Gene Simmons.
Simmons seems to have a mixed reaction towards Obstagoon and we can't blame him for that, though this writer personally thinks that the Pokemon looks cool. The KISS singer actually gave Newsweek a statement, saying: "Pokémon has been a part of our household for decades, ever since our kids first discovered them. And to see Pokémon pay homage to KISS, is flattering."
However, when a fan pointed out the similarities between Obstagoon and Simmons on Twitter, the celebrity reacted with a simple "welp." Considering all the nice things he stated above, it seems like the similarities are getting to him, which is somewhat understandable. While the singer might have mixed opinions, it's still great seeing regional variant Pokemon getting new evolution forms.
Pokemon Sword & Shield will be coming to the Nintendo Switch on November 15.
