King the Land is a romantic comedy that follows the story of two very different people: Gu Won, the heir of King Group who hates smiles, and Cheon Sa-rang, a cheerful employee of King Hotel.
The two are opposites and despise each other until things started changing. They start seeing each other in a different light and eventually develop romantic feelings for each other.

Gu Won and Sa-rang’s Romance in King the Land Explained
Gu Won and Sa-rang have an unlikely romance in King the Land. After his mother suddenly disappeared at a young age, Gu Won hates smiles. But Sa-rang is someone who smiles a lot, so Gu Won hates it.
They get off on the wrong foot when Sa-rang accuses Gu Won of being the pervert who was trying to hit on her. But as time passes, the two get to know each other.
At one time, they are forced to work together in an interview and a photoshoot. Later on, they get stranded on Gapado.
After such, Gu Won couldn’t stop thinking about Sa-rang. He realizes that he must have feelings for Sa-rang and attempts to get closer to her.
Gu Won catches Sa-rang crying in the rain and holds an umbrella from behind. He treats her to a meal on her birthday and even asks the head chef to bake a cake for her.
When the Arab prince visits the country and stays at King Hotel, Gu Won’s feelings for Sa-rang become clear. As Prince Samir makes his moves on Sa-rang, Gu Won gets jealous and looks for ways to interrupt them.
Finally, in Episode 8, Gu Won asks Sa-rang out on a date to “talk about us.” He expresses his love with a kiss. They get together and become a couple, and in Episode 9, Gu Won expresses in words that he likes Sa-rang a lot.
They decide to keep their relationship a secret to the point where not even their friends know that they’re dating. However, their relationship becomes public when Hwa-ran exposes Gu Won’s personal life to stop his promotion.
Chairman Gu also reappoints Sa-rang to the King Tourist Hotel, a place for outcasts. Despite all this, Gu Won and Sa-rang stay strong. But things appear to change at the end of Episode 15.

Do Gu Won and Sa-rang End Up Together in King the Land?
Gu Won and Sa-rang end up together and have a happy ending in King the Land. The King the Land finale ends with Gu Won and Sa-rang getting married.
While it appears that Sa-rang broke up with Gu Won at the end of Episode 15, this isn’t the case.
The final episode of King the Land reveals that Sa-rang wanted to call it quits on her job at King Hotel, not her relationship with Gu Won. Sa-rang expresses her feelings and says that she wants to open her own hotel.
Gu Won postpones his plans to propose, and Sa-rang opens her small hotel called “Hotel Amor”. Eventually, Gu Won was finally able to propose to Sa-rang.
He applies as a part-timer at Hotel Amor, and Sa-rang hires him. However, Gu Won says that he still has to pass the most important interview.
Gu Won declares that he wants to be with Sa-rang forever. He kneels, presents a ring, and asks Sa-rang to marry him. Sa-rang accepts his proposal and they declare their love for each other.
Gu Won and Sa-rang get married, and both of them smile as the episode comes to an end. In the epilogue, we see Sa-rang choosing an outfit for Gu Won.
They share a sweet moment, and Sa-rang warns Gu Won that the audience is looking at them. The series ends with Gu Won snapping his fingers and the curtains closing as he and Sa-rang kiss.
