In 2019, author Anna Pasternak revealed that she had the opportunity to interview James Hewitt approximately 28 years ago. Prince Harry’s alleged biological dad reached out to her and asked if they could do a paid interview about Princess Diana after he was discharged from the Army.
Pasternak immediately agreed to meet up with Hewitt, and it was during their conversation that he shared some shocking details about his relationship with the late royal, as well as King Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage.

King Charles Split His Time Between Princess Diana And Queen Consort Camilla At Highgrove?
According to Hewitt, Princess Diana was devastated when she found out that King Charles was having an affair with Queen Consort Camilla. Pasternak also revealed that the two female royals spent alternate weekends with King Charles at Highgrove.
“Charles and Diana had alternate weekends at Highgrove; one weekend would be for Charles and Camilla and their friends, and the next for Diana and her coterie. Diana was enraged that Camilla would move the drawing room furniture around to prove that she was the real chatelaine,” she wrote for Daily Mail.
Pasternak also revealed that Hewitt was a fan of King Charles. And the two men used to play polo together. The author revealed that King Charles knew that Hewitt was having an affair with Princess Diana, and he didn’t mind.
“It surprised me that Hewitt was a fan of Prince Charles’s, with whom he played polo. As is de rigueur in aristocratic circles, Charles knew of and welcomed their affair as it distracted Diana, taking pressure off him and Camilla. Camilla’s husband, Andrew Parker Bowles, also knew of and condoned Charles and Camilla’s relationship,” the author wrote.
James Hewitt Dubbed ‘Mainstay’ In Princess Diana’s Life By Author
Hewitt reportedly stood by Princess Diana’s side as she battled rampant bulimia, which started before her wedding to King Charles. And throughout her struggles, Hewitt reportedly served as a mainstay in Princess Diana’s life.
According to the author, Princess Diana enjoyed her time with Hewitt and the fact that life was much simpler when she was with him. But there was also no denying the fact that Hewitt and King Charles seemingly shared some similarities. And this could be one of the reasons why Princess Diana was drawn to the former.
“It seemed an ironic juxtaposition, the princess swapping her palace boudoir to sleep in a modest twin-bedded room, full of military memorabilia. Yet Diana, utterly unpretentious, relished the simplicity. In one extract I detailed Hewitt’s obvious appeal to the princess: ‘Occasionally, Hewitt becomes the image of Prince Charles at his grandest. He walks with his hands clasped firmly behind his back. When he chews on a question, he grimaces. At the bar he stands straight-backed, one hand in his pockets, twiddling nervously with his chunk of a signet ring.’ Hardly the stuff of controversy,” she wrote.
Hewitt and Princess Diana eventually split. And Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom passed away in 1997.
