King Charles will need to share the spotlight with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on his coronation whether they attend or skip the event, a report says.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Will Get Co-Star Billing At King Charles' Coronation?

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are invited to King Charles' coronation. However, it remains unclear if they will attend the event, which falls on the same day as their son Archie's 4th birthday.

In a column for the New Zealand Herald by royal correspondent and commentator Daniela Elser, she weighed in on how the Sussexes' attendance will affect His Majesty's big day. Elser believed that their presence or absence would still distract the event amid rumors that Markle felt excluded from the event because the duchess allegedly felt that the Palace was only after her husband, Prince Harry's attendance.

Elser wrote:

"The irony here is, if Meghan really does 'feel excluded,' then she should take heart in the fact that her and Harry's presence – or absence – will, either way, likely prove a distracting sideshow to the main event."

Elser also presented two scenarios at the coronation. Here's the first scenario if they attend the event, according to Elser:

"In scenario a) the minute we see one of Meghan's Gianvito Rossi-clad feet stepping into the millennium-old Abbey, which has been the scene of coronations since 1066, TV cameras and the global press horde will be trained on her and Aitch, Duke of the Manly Necklace, to catch every blink and glance at the Prince and Princess of Wales."

Here's the second scenario if they skip King Charles' coronation, Elser added:

"Scenario b) would see the Sussexes decide they would prefer to stay home in California to listen to neighbour Orlando Bloom's slam poetry or to doodle in their gratitude journals or to email Jeff Bezos, for the umpteenth time trying to cadge a development deal rather than having to face his wintry family."

Elser added that Prince Harry and Markle's attendance would also "set off an international media hoo-ha (that's the technical term, you know) and take attention away from Charles and the Giant Historic Momen." So, apparently, they will always be part of the conversation whether they are present or not.

King Charles Reportedly Thinks Prince Harry, Meghan Markle's Absence Is More Distracting

Previous reports claimed King Charles was more inclined to have his son and daughter-in-law at his coronation. His Majesty reportedly felt that the Sussexes' absence would cause a great distraction than their presence.

However, Prince William was reportedly not on board with the idea. The Prince of Wales reportedly felt that the royal couple, who are now based in Los Angeles, would use the event to stage a stunt and overshadow the event.
