Kevin Feige Teases Plans For X-Men Characters In Marvel Films

It's no secret that Marvel Studios can't wait to get their hands on the X-Men once Disney finishes its acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Needless to say, studio head Kevin Feige already has big plans for the comic book characters.

Feige recently attended the Britannia Awards in Los Angeles. The Marvel Studio president spoke to Variety, who asked if he is looking forward to having Deadpool in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"The merger's not done," Feige stated. "What I will say is, for years and years the dream has been to have access to as many of our characters back so that we can tell those stories at Marvel Studios. If and when that happens, I'll be very excited. ... We have ideas just from going back 18 years, but nothing specific."

Although Feige is playing coy, there is little doubt that he already has big plans for Deadpool and the X-Men once the acquisition is finalized. Could we look forward to the mutants making an appearance in a major MCU flick? We're certainly hoping it would happen.

There have been speculations that the merger will be completed by early 2019. This could result in Dark Phoenix being the first X-Men film for Marvel Studios. However, 20th Century Fox appears to be planning more X-Men films like the Gambit standalone and a Multiple Man movie. We'll have to wait until Disney makes an official announcement about the acquisition to find out what will happen to these projects.
