Kevin Feige Says The X-Men Won’t Appear In The MCU For A “Very Long Time”

Marvel fans might have been excitedly anticipating the arrival of the X-Men, Fantastic Four and all of Fox's other mutant characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Disney's acquisition of 21st Century but it looks like the X-Men won't be appearing on the Marvel big screen any time soon.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige just attended an Avengers: Endgame press event where he spoke with io9 about Marvel's future and during his discussion with the publication the studio executive dashed hopes of seeing the X-Men in the MCU within the next few years.

According to Feige, it's going to take some time for them to prepare for the X-Men's arrival in the MCU and that time is roughly about five or so years.

"It'll be a while. It's all just beginning and the five-year plan that we've been working on, we were working on before any of that was set," Feige explains during his interview with i09, "So really it's much more, for us, less about specifics of when and where [the X-Men will appear] right now and more just the comfort factor and how nice it is that they're home. That they're all back. But it will be a very long time."

This shouldn't come as a surprise. Marvel wouldn't want to rush bringing in the X-Men to the MCU without a good narrative reason to weave them into the franchise. Besides, the studio's still busy working on its own projects after Avengers: Endgame.

Guess we'll just have to sit down and wait for the X-Men to make their way to the MCU. At least we still have X-Men: Dark Phoenix and New Mutants to look forward to.

Avengers: Endgame premieres April 26, 2019.
