Kevin Feige Says Captain Marvel’s Flaws And Weaknesses Will Be Tackled In Future Films

Brie Larson's Carol Danvers has been just introduced as the most powerful Avenger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and in Captain Marvel it shows – the former pilot and Kree warrior taps into a limitless amount of energy residing inside her, giving her superhuman strength, flight, and photo rays that make her seem unstoppable. Not only can Captain Marvel fly through space, but she can also stop nukes and tear through space ships as if they were made out of tin foil.

While Captain Marvel didn't display much of Carol's weaknesses once it started going on its super-powered romp, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige promises that these flaws are going to be explored in future films in the franchise.

Speaking in an interview with Slash Film about Captain Marvel, Feige assures fans that Carol's incredible powers won't be a problem for the Marvel Cinematic Universe at all.

"The point of this movie was to see her unleashed, unchained. What happens when she taps into her full potential not being held back. So it was not the time to hold back," Feige explained. "It was not the time to, to emphasize limitations. We'd seen that over the course of the rest of the movie. We wanted to see her cut loose."

Sure, Carol's abilities might seem a bit overwhelming, but not even the MCU's greatest Avenger is immune to time. According to Feige, Captain Marvel isn't immortal – Carol still has her limitations.

"In future stories, well, none of the Marvel characters are immortal. Even ones that seem immortal, some people might be very hard to kill, but nobody's un-killable," the Marvel producer went on, "So if we're lucky enough to see future adventures with Captain Marvel, of course, there will be limitations and there will be Achilles heels and there will be things that we learn and see that it's, it's not as easy as a slicing through whatever she wants to at any point. But this wasn't the time to accentuate that."

Will we get that sort of exploration in Avengers: Endgame? We certainly hope so.

Captain Marvel is now screening in cinemas. Avengers: Endgame, on the other hand, is set to premiere on April 26, 2019.
