Kevin Feige Promises Marvel Will Explore More Of Mar-Vell’s Story

While Captain Marvel was nothing short of a commercial success for Marvel Studios, some fans found a few issues with Brie Larson's debut into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of those issues included the identity of Mar-Vell (Annette Bening) and the amount of screentime dedicated to the character. Not only did Marvel turn the Kree Warrior into a female Kree scientist, fans barely got to learn about Mar-Vell in the movie.

Now, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige promises fans that there's still a lot of time to explore Mar-Vell and her legacy as the MCU continues. Speaking in an interview with Screen Rant, the Marvel Studios executive explained that Captain Marvel opened a new window of opportunity for the MCU, allowing the franchise to explore even more things in the cosmic universe.

"Will we see it lived through more? Yeah. I mean, I think one of the things that's fun to us about the timeline of this film and the potential of future stories with these characters is there's a great past, not just of Mar-Vell, but of the entire Skrull/Kree conflict and also this gap of history between when Carol Danvers flew off with Talos at the end, spoiler, and when she arrives with the Avengers," Feige told the publication.

In the same interview with Screen Rant, Feige suggested that Marvel would be exploring more of the timeline between Captain Marvel and Iron Man, putting in sequels in between that period. Though Marvel may want to give Mar-Vell her own Disney+ series, Captain Marvel sequels would give the perfect opportunity to explore the character even further.

Captain Marvel is currently screening in cinemas.
