Kevin Feige On Avengers: Endgame’s Possible Three Hour Runtime

Marvel fans were delighted when Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo admitted that Avengers: Endgame was looking to be a three-hour-long film. Of course, that sort of runtime is definitely unprecedented in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and fans are worried that a three-hour-long movie might not run well with Marvel Studios' executives. Now, head honcho Kevin Feige has decided to speak up about Endgame's runtime, saying that the studio has no issue with a movie that goes for three hours at length.

Speaking in an interview with Collider during a press tour for Brie Larson's Captain Marvel, Feige decided to address the possibility of Endgame running longer than any other movie in the Marvel franchise.

"We're gonna release the movie at the exact right running time," Feige tells the entertainment news outlet, "I'm telling you this, it's gonna be perfect. It's gonna be the exact running time that the movie needs to be."

The Marvel Studios President then went on to talk about what he thought about the runtime, saying that the studio will give its directors as much time as they need for the final cut of the film as long as the whole thing makes sense but in terms of narrative and commercial sense.

"I think there's a lot of story in that movie and a lot of characters in that movie," the producer says of the upcoming blockbuster. "In all seriousness, we don't look at run times in terms of mandates, or anything like that. Every movie should feel like it's an hour and 45 minutes. Now, some movies can be 90 minutes and feel like they're four hours. And some movies can be three and a half hours and feel like 90 minutes," the producer explained. "So for us, that's what it … It's, "how does it feel?" And every version of Endgame thus far, and the ones that we're honing in on, feel very good."

So now that the Russo Brothers have Marvel Studios' approval, the only question left is whether Endgame will really come up to three hours worth of run time. We never know what's going to happen on the cutting room floor.

Whatever length, we're hoping for a great end to the Russo's two-part Avengers movie.

Avengers: Endgame premieres April 26, 2019.
