Now that Robert Downey Jr. finally stepped out as Iron Man, it is the perfect time to pass the torch to a new Avengers Leader, Doctor Strange. The MCU now revolves around the Multiverse saga and it's obvious who should take the lead in dealing with the problems of the Multiverse, no other than Doctor Strange.

Doctor Strange will come back in his origin film sequel, Multiverse of Madness, which will either wrap up the Multiverse saga or bring a deeper understanding of what the Multiverse really is. Doctor Strange is a pivotal part of the MCU after he officially joined the Avengers team in Avengers: Infinity War. We witnessed how he faced off with the Mad Titan, Thanos, and led the whole Avengers to undo the snap. His last appearance was in Spiderman: No Way Home and played a key role in helping Peter Parker conceal his identity again. Doctor Strange is now one of our favorite Avengers and Cumberbatch is the perfect actor to bring the Marvel Comics hero to the MCU.

Benedict Cumberbatch was honored in the Hollywood Walk of Fame together with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, who had a speech for the new Leader of the Avengers team.

Feige started by reminiscing about visiting the sidewalk and discussed how “it’s always special to come to witness someone get their star:”

“This is awesome, this is incredible, this is um, an iconic street to have literally put in stone your legacy. I love the Walk of Fame, it has meant so much to me over my whole life coming here as a tourist and to see you get this is heartwarming and really means a lot. It’s always special to come witness somebody get their star and you might say, one might say that there’s a little bit of magic to watch these sidewalk ceremonies, and of course that’s particularly appropriate considering who we’re honoring here today.”

Cumberbatch had many iconic roles from his past films, including the likes of Hamlet, Star Trek's Khan, and Sherlock Holmes. Feige then emphasized Cumberbatch's role as the Sorcerer in the MCU.

“There are so many roles you’ve played Benedict, that have made you worthy of this prestigious honor. You were an amazing Hamlet. You were an incredible Sherlock Holmes. You were the second best Khan ever, ever. You were brilliant in all the iconic roles, but to us and to millions around the globe, you deserve this honor for being the first, the best, the greatest and the only Doctor Stephen Strange.”

Feige reveals how Cumberbatch is now the anchor of the MCU, due to his tremendous effort for defining Doctor Strange as a character:

“Benedict has turned this character into an icon, appearing in a historic three of the top six films of all time. It’s been quite a journey. I remember our very first meeting was set up as a general, and we wanted to pitch him this great character, and before we could, he said ‘So tell me about Doctor Strange,’ because you knew. Because somewhere you knew what this could be and you’ve always seen the tremendous potential in this character. Because of that, you’ve become the anchor of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the only actor capable of guiding us through the madness of the Multiverse.”

Feige finished by congratulating Cumberbatch, “And of course, it’s not just the roles on-screen that make you so remarkable. It’s the roles off-screen as well: husband, father, creative collaborator, partner, actor with the busiest schedule in the world who gives our physical production team heartburn trying to make the dates work, and friend. Thank you sir, for your extraordinary contributions to the MCU and to the industry from Shakespeare to Roddenberry, from 221B Baker Street to 177A Bleeker Street, you have secured a well-deserved place in history with this star. And I know I speak on behalf of the world and particularly of Marvel Studios, I say congratulations and we love you. Thank you."

Now that Iron Man and Captain America are no longer part of the Avengers, Stephen Strange now plays as the defender of the MCU. The MCU continues to expand with the concept of Multiverse and Doctor Strange will be playing a lot more for future projects that deal with cosmic entities and safeguarding all realities.

In Doctor Strange's sequel Multiverse of Madness, he will be joined by another immensely powerful character, Wanda, who is now The Scarlett Witch. Wanda is also rumored to be the villain for the film and Doctor Strange will be dealing with her together with Wong, and the MCU's newcomer, America Chavez.

Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness will hit the big screens on May 6.
