Kevin Feige Explains Why It’s Taking So Long To Get Ms. Marvel To The MCU

It looks like Marvel actually held out on bringing Ms. Marvel to the big screen because the studio wanted Kamala Khan's backstory to be comic book accurate.

Taking time to speak at the Produced By conference (via the Digital LA), the Production Guild's annual convention, Marvel Studio President Kevin Feige opened up about his plans for Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel in the MCU.

According to Marvel's head honcho, the studio didn't want to bring Ms. Marvel into the franchise until it could get Captain Marvel to the big screen.

"We wanted to get Captain Marvel out there first," Feige explained, "so that there is something for a young Muslim girl to get inspired by."

Though it might not mean much to some, Feige's comment reveals that the studio is hoping to give Kamala Khan a comic book accurate back story once she makes it to the MCU.

For those who aren't familiar with Ms. Marvel, Kamala Khan starts out as a Captain Marvel fangirl. She later on gains superpowers after going through Terrigenesis and after the transformation, the young Muslim girl takes up the name Ms. Marvel as a way to honor her hero.

Though it means that it might take a while for us to see Kamala pop up on the big screen, we're hoping to see Ms. Marvel in Phase 4 or in the later parts of Phase 3 in the MCU.

Marvel's latest release, Avengers: Infinity War, is currently screening in cinemas.
