Kevin Feige Confirms Harrison Ford's MCU Presidential Role

Hollywood icon Harrison Ford is finally making his jump to the MCU soon as he is set to take over the role of Thaddeus Ross soon in the upcoming film Captain America: New World Order. A lot of fans are looking forward to seeing how the beloved actor's tenure in the franchise will play.

There have been rumors that Ford's role in the MCU will be a significant one as there are claims around the web that his character will become the President of the United States in the franchise's universe although Marvel Studios remains mum about it until now.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige discussed briefly their plans for Captain America: New World Order where he confirmed that Ford's Thaddeus Ross is indeed going to be the President of the United States during the film.

"We start filming relatively soon. I'm sure anyone you've ever talked with about Harrison Ford says this, but it's unbelievable that we get to meet and talk with him and that he's embracing this role. He's tireless with the amount of work that he does. This is certainly a big part for Thaddeus Ross. He's the president of the United States in the film," he said.

Feige also cited Ford's previous roles in Air Force One (where also played the POTUS) and Clear and Present Danger as their inspirations for the actor's upcoming role in the MCU. He also teased about the character's dynamic with Sam Wilson.

He continued, "And with Harrison, you think about Air Force One, and you think about some of his confrontations with the president in Clear and Present Danger. There's a dynamic between President Ross and Sam Wilson. They have a history together, but in this film, we'll be seeing the dynamic between Captain America and the president of the United States in a way that is just incredible."

It is exciting to hear that Ford's Thaddeus Ross is going to be the POTUS in the MCU which does set up an interesting path for the character and it is a clue as well on how what we can expect on Sam Wilson's first solo movie as the new Captain America.

It is curious to see if the character's tenure as the POTUS will extend beyond the film or if it will end up being short-term as he becomes "too red" to serve the role.
