Kate Middleton and Prince William attended St. Patrick's Day on Thursday. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have made several appearances at the annual event in the past years and one outlet claimed that the future king saved his wife from an embarrassing moment one time.
Kate Middleton Made An Embarrassing Slip Up At St. Patrick's Day
In 2013, Kate Middleton was heavily pregnant with Prince George when she joined Prince William at St. Patrick's Day. The Duchess of Cambridge was caught in an embarrassing moment at the time when she almost tumbled to the ground after getting her shoe heel caught in a drain cover.
Middleton tried to get her heel to budge but it got stuck and she couldn't move and free herself. Prince William was to the rescue and held his pregnant wife's hand to help her keep her balance. She bent down to free her footwear. They carried on with the ceremony like nothing happened, Mirror reported.
In 2018, Middleton suffered from a similar fashion faux of wearing heels when her stiletto got stuck in a grate when she visited a new addiction treatment center in Wickford. At the time, she was seven months pregnant with Prince Louis.
Vice Lord Lieutenant of Essex Jonathan Douglas-Hughes, who took a tumble when he met the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2016, was talking to Middleton when the incident happened. And the royal mom never lost her poised and even quipped, "Do the same as you!"
"I reminded her [about the fall]. My wife told her that she would ensure I didn’t do it again. Then she caught her heel. She said, Oh…do the same as you!’" Douglas-Hughs told reporters, per People.
Kate Middleton Looked Stunning At St. Patrick's Day With Prince William
The future king and queen consort visited 1st Battalion Irish Guards’ annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Aldershot, England on Thursday. They dressed in part with the Duchess of Cambridge looking stunning in her Laura Green London design ensemble.
She paired the belted green coat dress with her Emmy London Rebecca Greenery suede pumps and matched it with a green pillbox hat by Lock & Co. Hatters to achieve a vintage-style look. Middleton also accessorized with a glittering pair of emerald and diamond drop earrings, Page Six reported.
Prince William's wife also wore a gold-and-emerald shamrock brooch. The accessory was previously worn by Queen Mother and Princess Anne in the previous years. The Duchess of Cambridge has been wearing it annually since 2011.
Meanwhile, Prince William looked dapper in his uniform. The Duke of Cambridge is the Colone of the Irish Guards. He also added a festive sprig of shamrocks to his hat for the holiday.

It was the first time the royal couple had attended the annual event in person since the pandemic started. Prince William and Middleton looked delighted to be part of the celebration.
