Kate Middleton reportedly had some resentment toward her sister-in-law Meghan Markle. The Princess of Wales wasn't happy she wasn't allowed to join the other royals at Queen Elizabeth's deathbed due to Prince Harry's wife.

Kate Middleton Wasn't Allowed To Go To The Queen's Deathbed Due To Meghan Markle?

Last year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were in the United Kingdom when the late monarch's health deteriorated. Prince Harry and Markle wanted to rush to Balmoral Castle to be by her side.

However, Prince Harry was told he was welcome but not his wife. The palace also said that even Prince William's wife wasn't going.

However, according to royal biographer and historian Robert Jobson in his new book Our King Charles III — The Man And The Monarch Revealed, only Markle wasn't welcomed. They had to use Middleton to convince Prince Harry that no royal wives would be on the Queen's deathbed.

Jobson wrote in the book, per Express:

"Privately, [King Charles] wanted to say Meghan was not welcome, but he couldn't say that to Harry so he personally intervened and asked Kate to stay back so that it was fairer on Meghan. Kate deliberately stayed away but she desperately wanted to be there with the Queen in her last moments. That's eaten Kate up and has built up resentment towards Meghan."

However, other royal wives were present when Prince Harry arrived. His stepmother Queen Consort Camilla and Prince Edward's spouse Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, were both permitted to be there.

What Did Prince Harry Say About The Incident?

Prince Harry shared his own narrative about the Queen's final hours in his memoir Spare. According to him, his father told him he was welcome at Balmoral but not his wife.

The Duke of Sussex also mentioned how his father, King Charles, explained the whole thing to him, noting that even his sister-in-law Kate Middleton was not allowed to be on the Queen's deathbed.

He wrote:

"He started to explain his reasons, but they didn't make any sense at all, and it was disrespectful as well. I did not tolerate it from him. Don't even think about talking about my wife like that. 'Repentant,' he said, stammering, that he simply didn't want the place to be full of people. Nobody's wife was going to go, not even Kate, he told me, so Meg shouldn't either."

Prince Harry was so persistent in bringing Markle with him. He argued with his father and missed the flight that carried Prince William, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.

As a result, Prince Harry had to take an even later flight. He claimed in his book that he only learned about his grandmother's death online upon landing at Aberdeen Airport.

However, the royals insisted that every member of the royal family was informed about the Queen's death before it was announced to the public.
