Kate Middleton and Prince William are reportedly moving to Windsor so that they’ll be closer to Queen Elizabeth.

The monarch relocated to Windsor months ago following the death of Prince Philip. And now that she’s already 96 years old, it’s more ideal for her to remain in Windsor because it’s closer to where she works. And it’s also closer to certain members of the royal family.

Prince Andrew Wants Princess Eugenie To Live In Adelaide Cottage, But The Cambridges Always Want The Property

But according to Mirror UK, Prince Andrew already expressed his desire for Adelaide Cottage to be Princess Eugenie’s residence. As such, a source claimed that Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince Andrew could fight over the property.

“The situation could very well become an issue in the near future. The Duke of York has made no secret in the past of his firm-held belief that his children should be treated no differently than Princes William and Harry, despite his daughters not being working royals. The word is Eugenie is also trying to find somewhere to live and would like to settle in Windsor,” a source said (via Express).

A second source told Express that there are fears Prince Andrew’s proximity to the queen would encourage the monarch to allow him to return to his royal duties. However, it is also important to note that changes to the Cambridge family’s living arrangements have not yet been confirmed.

Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, currently reside at Frogmore Cottage with their son, August. They moved into the property after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quit their royal duties and relocated to the United States.

Royal expert Andrew Pierce also said that royals should stop granting favors to minor royals like Prince Andrew. He added that only Prince William, Middleton, and Prince Harry – if he decides to come back – should be given a royal residence.

According to royal expert Richard Eden, if Prince William and Middleton want to move to Adelaide Cottage, they can certainly do so.

“As the future king, I think William has the first refusal. If they want it, they get it,” he said (via Geo. TV).

Prince William And Kate Middleton Will Live Rent-Free In Adelaide Cottage

According to Hello! magazine, one of the things that Prince William and Middleton can enjoy when they move to Adelaide Cottage is the fact that they don’t need to pay for anything. After all, the property is listed as a grace and favor home, which she can give to anyone she likes.

More specifically, a grace and favor home is a habitation granted rent-free by the English royal household. And most often than not, rent-free homes are given to senior working royals because they are helping the monarch.

The move – if and when it happens – will also be great for Middleton’s side of the family. After all, it means that she and her children will just be 40 minutes away from Berkshire, where her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, live.
