Kate Middleton and Prince William just ended their "turbulent" tour of the Caribbean last week. To recall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were met with a protest during their visit to Belize and arrived in the Bahamas to demands from a group calling for slavery reparations that they acknowledge Britain’s economy “was built on the backs” of their ancestors.

Amid the tension and outrage, Kate Middleton and Prince William have also enjoyed their royal tour. The Cambridge couple even visited Che’il Mayan Chocolate Factory, danced during a traditional Garifuna festival, dropped by the ancient Mayan archaeological site, attended a special reception hosted by the Governor-General of Belize, visited Trench Town Culture Yard Museum, and met students at Sybil Strachan Primary School.

Royal commentator Christopher Wilson described Kate Middleton and Prince William as “more media-savvy” than their advisers after facing protests during their visit to Jamaica earlier last week. On Twitter, he wrote:

"When the dust settles I think we'll see William and Kate - more media-savvy than their advisers - take greater control of events."

Referring to the speech Prince William delivered during a reception in Jamaica on Wednesday, which Christopher claimed had been delivered on the advice of the Foreign Office, he added:

"With that slavery speech, delivered on Foreign Office advice, William stepped into a political minefield. That won't happen again."

To recall, the eight-day Caribbean tour of Kate Middleton and Prince William was marred by protests and PR misfires. However, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge appeared to have been hugely welcomed by locals whenever they stepped out to meet people in Belize, Jamaica, and The Bahamas.

Meanwhile, Kate Middleton talked about the difficulties that students had to face during the COVID-19 pandemic, when she visited the Sybil Primary School in the Bahamas, as schools and campuses shut down around the world to contain the spread of the deadly virus. The wife of Prince William shared:

“One of the hardest things that we have all found about the pandemic was being separated from the people we love. But we have also had the chance to rediscover just how important our families are, and just how important our friends are too.”

“I always think it is the simple things in life that bring us the most joy: Playing together, chatting to your friends at school, eating meals together, and listening to each other’s stories. These are the things that bring us together and give meaning to our lives."
