Kate Middleton And Prince William Will Eventually Live In Windsor Castle
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge relocated from Kensington Palace in London to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor this summer. The royal couple's three children, Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4, currently attend Lambrook. They officially started their brand-new school on the same week their great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth passed away.
Despite the circumstances, Middleton said their three children "settle in nicely," Hello! magazine reported.
The family is enjoying their life in Windsor, but insiders said that they would eventually relocate again in the future as the heir to the throne is reportedly expected to live in the 1000-year-old Windsor Castle, People reported.
Windsor Castle is the largest and oldest occupied castle in the world. Based on the Royal Collection Trust, 40 monarchs have occupied the palatial space since it was built in the 11th century.
Queen Elizabeth spent her remaining years in Windsor Castle. Meanwhile, King Charles won't be spending as much time there, after he ascended the throne.
It remains unknown when the Wales family will be moving to Windsor Castle, but at present, they are reportedly enjoying Windsor.
"They love that the kids can go out on their bikes and cycle around the estate, and they are all really excited to meet everyone," a friend told People for its cover story this week. "It's a real little community."
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Reportedly Hoped To Live In Windsor But The Queen Didn't Allow Them
Kate Middleton and Prince William's future home is reportedly something that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry hoped for. According to Vanity Fair royal editor Katie Nicholl in her new book The New Royals: Queen Elizabeth's Legacy and the Future of the Crown, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wanted to live in Windsor Castle, but Her Majesty gave them Frogmore Cottage instead.
"When Harry and Meghan announced their wish to move out of Kensington Palace, the Queen offered them Frogmore Cottage in Windsor Great Park as their new home. This was not the suite of apartments at Windsor Castle they had hoped for," Nicholl wrote in an excerpt from the book published by the Mail on Sunday.
Although the Queen didn't give in to the Sussexes' wishes, Lady Elizabeth said gifting Prince Harry and Markle the Frogmore Cottage was a "big deal" because by doing so, she gave up her privacy.
"The Queen's entrance into the gardens is right next to their cottage. It is essentially her backyard, her solitude, and her privacy. She was giving that up in gifting Harry and Meghan Frogmore Cottage. We all thought it was very big of her. She said, 'I hope they'll respect it,'" Lady Elizabeth said.
Royal author Hugo Vickers shared his thoughts on why the late Queen Elizabeth denied Prince Harry Windsor Castle despite their close relationship. According to him, the estate is not appropriate for "a young family."
"There are empty bedrooms and suites in the private apartments within Windsor Castle which the Sussexes may have had their eye on, or perhaps some former living quarters in the castle grounds converted into other things," Vickers told Express. "But I can see how it might not be entirely appropriate to have a young family living there."
