Kate Middleton Plays Crucial Role, a Major Influence on Prince William’s Future as the Next King

Kate Middleton has been credited for perfectly playing her role in the royal family. But aside from being a senior royal, the Princess of Wales is also seen playing a crucial part in ensuring Prince William has accepted his future as the next monarch.

American journalist and biographer Sally Bedell Smith believed Kate has "made a big difference" in Prince William's acceptance to be the king one day. She has offered her husband "pivotal support" as he moved past his parents, King Charles and the late Princess Diana's so-called "dysfunctional marriage."

Kate Middleton's Major Role in Prince William's Future as King

Smith noted how the Duchess of Cornwall's influence has also ensured the Prince of Wales will be "all in" in his role in the institution.

Their relationship and her continuous support of him have helped solidify his commitment to royal duty.

The royal expert also suggested that Kate had shown Prince William that he could move past King Charles's difficult relationship with Princess Diana.

"For a long time, William and Harry were very bonded by having endured that very dysfunctional marriage," Smith told Newsweek. "And William, I think, partly through marrying a woman who would understand that and who would support him, and particularly support him in his role as a future king, I think that made a big difference."

Ever since the two married in 2011, Kate has become a major influence on Prince William, and Smith is convinced he's very lucky to have her.

Kate Middleton a Good Influence on Prince William

Royal biographer Howard Hodgson also believed that Kate is an "extremely good influence" on Prince William.

"Certainly William is very dutiful, and I think supported by Kate," he told Express.

"They ensure that they keep a good appearance. They do put the public, the country, and the monarchy first," he added. "I think he was very lucky to marry her. I think she's an extremely good influence and is well-liked by the people, and so she should be."

Though Kate was initially criticized for her work in the royal family in the early years, focusing on building her and Prince William's family and supporting the latter helped her grow her confidence and become more comfortable with the roles she played today.
