The fourth season of True Detective has only just begun but there are already so many questions on our minds. One of the new characters the show introduced in episode two is Kate McKittrick of True Detective. Here's what we know about Kate McKittrick right now.
What We Know About Kate McKittrick in True Detective: Night Country
As of this writing, we don't know much about Kate McKittrick in True Detective except that she is the hockey rink owner who is close with Hank Prior.
Fans are also pointing out that she could be the owner of the mine and several buildings in town.
McKittrick was also mentioned as a big-shot person who was involved with the brutal murder of Annie Masu Kowtok.
Trooper Evangeline Navarro (played by Kali Reis) was a detective at the time and worked on the murder case of Annie K, an activist who was intent on shutting down the mines in Ennis.
Years ago, Annie K pointed out that the mines in Ennis had cultural, ethical, and environmental issues. Unfortunately, Annie K was killed, brutally at that.
She was found to have 32 stab wounds and a missing tongue when police found her. Investigators also found her to have broken teeth and broken ribs.
They deduced that the person who killed Annie K had a personal vendetta against her.
Through investigations, however, Navarro came across the name Kate McKittrick. However, Navarro was suddenly taken off the case and transferred as a Trooper.
Since the murderer was never found, the case had gone cold. But Navarro continues to think about Annie K's brutal killing.
So when it is revealed that one of the missing Tsalal scientists had a connection with Annie K, this leads Navarro to bring up McKittrick's name and Annie K's cold case.
Could the past atrocities be linked with the new case that Navarro and Chief Liz Danvers (played by Jodie Foster) were facing?
Although her character is simply mentioned as a flashback in True Detective: Night Country, it's possible that we could be seeing more of her in future episodes of the series.

Who Plays Kate McKittrick in True Detective: Night Country?
The role of Kate McKittrick in True Detective is portrayed by Dervla Kirwan, an Irish actress who has received several recognitions for her performances in Ondine and Smother.
The actress started her career in BBC's Goodnight Sweetheart and Ballykissangel. She won a National Television Award for the latter program. Other notable projects of hers include Hearts and Bones, 55 Degrees North, True Dare Kiss, Material Girl, and The Silence.
She also had a guest appearance in The Next Doctor, the Doctor Who Christmas special that was released in 2008.
