Karl Urban Talks About His Role In Judge Dredd: Mega City One Live-Action Series

Judge Dredd fans might be hoping to see 2012 Dredd star Karl Urban in the upcoming Judge Dredd television spinoff series Mega-City One, but it looks like the Star Trek actor isn't attached to the project.

Speaking in an interview with Trek Movie, Urban decided to open up about his excitement regarding the upcoming Judge Dredd live-action series by Rebellion and IM Global Television as well as his involvement in the show.

While the Dredd and Star Trek star seems pretty interested in working on the project, Urban admits that he isn't attached to Mega0City One despite having a preliminary round of discussions with the studio executives working on the project.

"I'm not attached to it, although I did have a preliminary round of conversations with them," Urban explained during the interview. "I am interested in doing it. There are a lot of great stories to tell there… their idea for Mega-City One is basically to build the show around more rookie judges and young, new judges and Dredd would come in and out and I said that I'll do it, but it has to be done in a meaningful way."

This new update will definitely disappoint fans hoping to see Urban in the series. Sure, Dredd might not have had much commercial success when it hit cinemas back in 2012, but fans and critics loved the film and there's been a lot of talk about a sequel to the film for years. It's such a shame that Urban can't be part of Mega-City One. Hopefully Rebellion and IM Global touch base with Urban again and try to offer him a short role – maybe even a cameo would make fans happy.

Judge Dredd: Mega-City One doesn't have a release date yet but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
