It seems that more and more Spring 23 anime are getting hit with delays as another ongoing show has gotten an episode postponed. This latest one is KamiKatsu, which recently announced that the Episode 8 release date has been delayed.
The delay for KamiKatsu is unexpected given that, despite some questionable animation in some episodes, there hasn’t really been a strong indication that a delay is coming.
With this, four big anime shows of the season have now been delayed, echoing the hiatuses that plagued the previous Winter 23 season.
Several Spring 23 Anime Have Been Delayed
The first of the Spring 23 anime to get delayed is Gundam: Witch from Mercury. Specifically, Episode 18 of the show was delayed by a week. In its place, a recap episode was broadcast on Japanese TV.
At the time, this wasn’t that big of a surprise. After all, the first season of the new Gundam anime back in the fall also got a recap episode in between. Not to mention that its later episodes have also been delayed.
Soon after Gundam’s release though, more shows announced delays, including Hell’s Paradise, which had its ninth episode moved back by one week.
Another anime that got delayed is Mashle: Magic and Muscles. Similar to Gundam, a recap episode was aired back on Friday instead of Episode 7. The show’s next episode has also been moved by a week.
The Mashle delay has prompted concerns over a possible hiatus on the horizon.
After all, the anime is made by A-1 Pictures and produced by Aniplex – the companies behind NieR: Automata Ver1.1a, which continues to be on hiatus.

KamiKatsu Episode 8 New Release Date
Now, it was announced that KamiKatsu: Working for God in a Godless World Episode 8 has been delayed by a week. Instead of the episode airing on May 24, it will instead be scheduled for May 31.
Unlike Gundam and Mashle which got recap episodes, KamiKatsu won’t get a recap. Instead, the seventh episode will get rebroadcast during the show’s timeslot.
According to the show’s staff, the delay was made “due to various circumstances,” possibly indicating production issues such as the staff members being spread thin.
For now, only the eighth episode has been delayed, and there’s no word yet on whether the release of the next episodes will be delayed again.
Fans can look forward to KamiKatsu Episode 8 when it releases on May 31 on Crunchyroll.
