Warner Bros. recently announced that it will be having its first feature-length animated film in Justice Society: World War II which will revolve on the exploits of the first super-team of DC, The Justice Society of America, led by Wonder Woman with Steve Trevor, Hourman, Black Canary, Hawkman, and the Golden Age Flash, Jay Garrick.

The animated film will be the first feature of the Golden Age DC Super Heroes, The Justice Society of America, the first-ever superhero team of DC predating Justice League by almost twenty years. This will also be the 42nd release of the DC Universe film franchise.

Justice Society: World War II Plot

Barry Allen, modern-day The Flash gets to travel back in time where he finds The Justice Society of America in the midst of a battle with the Nazis and he encounters his predecessor, Jay Garrick.

While Barry has helped the team to get an advantage against their enemies, the team also tries to figure out how to send Barry back to his home and original timeline. Given the underlying complications of time travelling, emotions run deep through the team as they face the adversities ahead of them.

The official synopsis for the animated film is below:

"Justice Society: World War II finds modern-day Barry Allen – prior to the formation of the Justice League – discovering he can run even faster than he imagined, and that milestone results in his first encounter with the Speed Force. The Flash is promptly launched into the midst of a raging battle – primarily between Nazis and a team of Golden Age DC Super Heroes known as The Justice Society of America. Led by Wonder Woman, the group includes Hourman, Black Canary, Hawkman, Steve Trevor and the Golden Age Flash, Jay Garrick. The Flash quickly volunteers to assist his fellow heroes in tipping the scales of war in their favor, while the team tries to figure out how to send him home. But it won't be easy as complications and emotions run deep in this time-skipping World War II thriller."

The trailer of Justice Society: World War II was released by Warner Bros. featuring The Justice Society of America during a raging battle with the Nazis and where modern-day Barry Allen gets transported to and helps the team advance to their favor.

The trailer features a classic comic book theme throughout which gives the viewers a sneak peak as to how the film is animated.

Justice Society: World War II Voice Cast and Production Crew

The film will be having an all-star voice cast led by Stana Katic as Wonder Woman and Matt Bomer as Barry Allen, who previously voiced Lois Lane and Superman in the 2013 film Superman: Outbound.

Along with Katic and Bomer are Elysia Rotaru as Black Canary, Chris Diamantopoulos as Steve Trevor, Omid Abtahi as Hawkman, Matthew Mercer as Hourman, Liam McIntyre as Aquaman, Ashleigh Lathrop as Iris West, Geoffrey Arend as Charles Halstead, Keith Ferguson as Dr. Fate, and Darin De Paulan as FDR.

Justice Society: World War II is directed by Jeff Wamester of the Guardians of the Galaxy TV Series, and is written by Meghan Fitzmartin of Supernatural and DC Super Hero Girls and Jeremy Adams of Supernatural and Batman: Soul Of The Dragon.

The film producers are Jim Krieg of Batman: Gotham by Gaslight and Kimberly S. Moreau of Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, with Butch Lukic of Superman: Man of Tomorrow and Constantine: City of Demons as the supervising producer and Sam Register as the executive producer.

Justice Society: World War II Where to Watch

Justice Society: World War II will be available digitally via Amazon, Vudu, Xbox, FandangoNow, PlayStation, Apple TV app, and other streaming platforms for those who will purchase the film.

The animated film will also be available on 4K Ultra HD and on Blu-Ray. The Blu-ray Combo Pack will be for the price of $29.98 while the 4K Combo Pack will be priced at an SRP price of $39.99.

Justice Society: World War II Release Date

The Justice Society: World War II will be released digitally on the abovementioned platforms on April 27, 2021.

For the 4K Blu-Ray and Blu-Ray release, Justice Society: World War II will be available on May 11, 2021. The combo pack will include DC Showcase's Kamandi: The Last Boy on Earth!, a new animated short, and the story featurette of the film entitled Adventures in Storytelling: Justice Society: World War II.

The combo pack will also have a sneak peak for the next animated film of DC Universe, Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One, the story featurette of Justice League vs. Teen Titans and Wonder Woman: Bloodlines, and the features of Justice League: Legends Parts One and Two.
