Justice League Dark: Apokolips War is the Final Installment in the DC Animated Movie Universe

While their live-action movies have gotten a mixed response, the DC Animated Movie Universe has been seen as a nice alternative. Starting with Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, all of these movies have since had a shared continuity consisting of stories based on a number of popular comic book storylines, whether they were based on The New 52 or Pre-Flashpoint stories. Justice League Dark: Apokolips War will reportedly be the last film based on this continuity.

According to ComicBook.com, DC Animation and Warner Bros will still work on a number of DC animated movies, like the upcoming Superman: Man of Tomorrow, but it looks like future films will not share the same continuity from this point on. That's pretty disappointing for sure so we can only hope that Apokolips War lives up to our expectations since we would have loved to see more from this shared universe.

Many fans were confused when they first saw the trailer to Justice League Dark: Apokolips War since it felt more like a sequel to the Justice League movies rather than a follow-up to Justice League Dark. Still, now we know why the first trailer was more like Avengers: Endgame than a proper sequel to Justice League Dark; this is the end.

Justice League Dark: Apokolips War is currently slated for a May 9 release for digital stores. The physical Blu-Ray will be coming out on May 19.
