The first Justice League Dark: Apokolips War trailer has been released and it looks like this will be the Avengers: Endgame of the DCAU. We're honestly a bit surprised that this is still called Justice League Dark since it assembles every character we've seen from the DCAU so far in an incredibly epic crossover. While Constantine, Zatana, and Swamp Thing have some presence here, the focus on Darkseid will confuse a lot of people, including fans of the first film.
All of those complaints aside, this does look like a suitably epic animated movie that fans of the previous DCAU installments are going to enjoy. Seeing every major superhero from the other movies is a nice touch and we're sure they're going to get a lot of really cool moments. We see some of them in this trailer and we have to wonder if this movie will be self-contained or if it's going to get a sequel or two.
We're sure some fans would have preferred a much more direct sequel to Justice League Dark and a lot of us are genuinely surprised that DC didn't just call this Justice League: Apokolips War. Maybe this trailer is tricking us and there are more direct references to Dark than we think? We'll have to wait and see.
