There's a lot of excitement right now for Jurassic World: Dominion as it will feature the crossover between two generations of the franchise with the return of the original Jurassic Park cast and today's Jurassic World cast. As we are slowly getting closer to its release, certain information about the film is starting to emerge including the runtime which now gives us an idea of how long will it be.
Collider has reported that they've heard from multiple sources that Jurassic World: Dominion will have a runtime of 2 hours and 26 minutes making it the longest film in the franchise to date. The other Jurassic films have a runtime of around more or less 2 hours with the exception of Jurassic Park III as it only had a runtime of 1 hour and 32 minutes.
It is not surprising to hear that Dominion will have a dino-sized runtime as it will be the biggest film to date as it crossed two generations and will have a global scale given that the dinosaurs are now roaming free around the world. It also shows that they are going to spend more time telling the story and there are going to be a lot of set pieces to look forward to.
While it is exciting to know that we're going to spend a lot of time with the Jurassic gang, we wouldn't find out until when we finally see the film if the almost 150-minute runtime works for the film although it has been a norm for a lot of tentpole films nowadays to have this kind of runtime.
The film's logline reads: "Dominion takes place four years after Isla Nublar has been destroyed. Dinosaurs now live—and hunt—alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures."
