Julia Louis-Dreyfus is known for her comical prowess, especially during her stint on Saturday Night Live. She, too, was part of the hit sitcom Seinfeld and the award-winning satirical comedy series Veep.

As one of the most award-winning actresses in U.S. TV history, take a look at Louis-Dreyfus’ life, career, and net worth.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Career

The 62-year-old started in the world of comedy by performing in The Practical Theatre Company.

From there, she was cast in Saturday Night Live, while her breakthrough came when she played the role of Elaine Benes on Seinfeld for nine seasons.

She also became a part of The New Adventure of Old Christine and Veep and made guest appearances on Arrested Development, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and 30 Rock.

Movie-wise, she had supporting roles in Hannah and Her Sisters, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and Deconstructing Harry.

She also led Enough Said, Downhill, and You People.

Louis-Dreyfus is also a voice actress, lending her voice to the animated films A Bug’s Life, Planes, and Onward.

She, too, has played the role of Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2021.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Salary and Net Worth

As a supporting cast member, Louis-Dreyfus only earned a nominal amount for her work on Seinfeld.

It then increased to $150,000 per episode in 1993 and dramatically rose to $600,000 for the final season.

Sadly, she doesn’t make any significant amounts from Seinfeld’s syndication sales as she needs to have equity ownership percentage points on the show to do so.

She also doesn’t receive backend points, though she gets royalties from when the show airs, which only equates to hundreds of thousands a year.

For Veep, she got $500,000 per episode.

She made about $8 million annually with her endorsement deals and other incomes in recent years. Hence, it’s enough to say that she’s one of the five highest-paid TV actresses in the world.

Today, Louis-Dreyfus is worth $250 million.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus Had a Miscarriage at 28

Louis-Dreyfus revealed on the Wiser Than Me podcast that she had an “emotionally devastating” miscarriage during her first pregnancy at 28.

She was “crazy happy” when she learned she was pregnant, feeling “very fertile” and “very womanly” when she and her husband, Brad Hall, were about to welcome their first child “easily.”

However, when she lost her supposed-to-be firstborn, she described the experience as a “complete nightmare.”

She, too, had to be hospitalized after developing an infection. She was bedridden, and her mom, Judith Bowles, had to fly out to look after her.

And though she wasn’t allowed to eat the “cozy chili” her mom made, she still did as the “making of it was so comforting and so embracing.” Hence, that meal became one of her “greatest memories.”
