Joss Whedon’s Firefly Gets Honest Trailer Treatment

Probably one of the most revered titles in science fiction television is Joss Whedon’s short-lived Firefly, and after all these years of internet cult status, Screen Junkies has decided to drop an Honest Trailer take on the beloved show.

Check it out:

From human thumb Joss Whedon—the man responsible for Buffy, the Avengers, and The Snyder Cut—comes the groundbreaking sci-fi series that got canceled, but like, traditionally canceled; not Joss Whedon canceled.

Though the show is highly regarded now, you have to hand it to Screen Junkies for pointing out the specific “Whedon-isms” that you can find in any project by Whedon, from the endless quips to the stereotypical types of woman characters.

If anything, the world that Whedon built was still pretty interesting, and it was Guardians of the Galaxy before Guardians was even a thing. I almost forget that Nathan Fillion was actually in that movie as well, and there were a lot of fans hoping that Fillion would reprise Mal Reynolds in GOTG before the movie came out.

Not to mention Firefly also has some callbacks to the OG space cowboy Han Solo from Star Wars. I wouldn’t have noticed that “Han shot first” reference if Screen Junkies didn’t point it out.

While a lot of people keep hoping that Firefly would come back, some agree that it was best that it was cut off early. If anything, there was a lot of potential for it to become terrible. Good thing Whedon had wrapped everything up nice with the spinoff movie Serenity.
