Disney Legend and long-time Star Wars fan Josh Gad is lobbying to join the franchise and he has a role in mind for his potential involvement.

Since his popularity, Gad has been connected to the Star Wars franchise as he had several set visits in various projects throughout the past years. He also had a guest voice role in an episode of Rebels.

Now that the actor has tie-ins with the franchise, he is now eyeing to potentially join for a major role and he has a particular character in mind that is connected to a fan-favorite.

Josh Gad Wants to Play Jabba the Hutt's Nephew in Star Wars

In a recent interview, Gad opened up about his interest in potentially joining the Star Wars franchise for a major role.

He suggested that he could play "Donnie the Hutt," Jabba's nephew (a character that does not exist yet in the Star Wars canon).

"Oh, yeah, absolutely. If they were to offer me Donnie the Hutt, like Jabba's nephew or something like that, I would do it in a second," the actor said.

"I will tell you that I have actually been on the flip side of this where I have been invited to numerous Star Wars sets, and have learned things way before the movies came out that I was actually very sad that I knew.

Gad added, "I saw Baby Yoda about a year before anybody knew about Baby Yoda, so that was both cool, but also slightly disappointing because then I couldn't be surprised."

As we've seen in the past several years, Gad is a talented actor in both dramatic and comedic material and there are fans who would love to see him get involved more in the franchise.

Considering his connections to the franchise at this point, it wouldn't be surprising at this point if Gad gets cast in a live-action Star Wars role at some point and hopefully it will be an interesting character.

For now, let's wait and see whether Gad gets cast in a future project ct whether it is Jabba's nephew or a different role.
