Josh Brolin Explains That Major Plothole In Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War might have received a lot of love and attention from both fans and critics, but the film isn't without its flaws. Even Infinity War has its plotholes, and one of the many errors that fans have pointed out is Thanos motivation behind wiping out half of the universe.

If Thanos was really thinking about the welfare and balance of the cosmos, then why not just double the resources of the universe using the power of the Infinity Stones? Why did the Mad Titan have to go around turning people into dust instead?

Popping up on The Late Show to help promote his upcoming film, Sicario: Dia del Soldado, Thanos star Josh Brolin went on talking about his latest Marvel movie, Avengers: Infinity War. Not only was the actor drawn to the role of Thanos because of Benedict Cumberbatch's passionate mo-cap performance in The Hobbit, but he was also convinced by Thanos' motivations.

"His intention, if you think about, his intention was there is an overabundance of population and there's limited resources," Brolin explained. "So, what he's doing is actually right, right?"

However, The Late Show host Stephen Colbert just had to disagree with the Marvel star, pointing out that "He could also use the glove to double the resources."

Brolin explains that Thanos wasn't thinking of that kind of solution "because he's too callous."

"The manifestation is callous. If you look at Trump, yes, there's border problems. Every border has problems. People coming over, overpopulation, limited resources and all that but how it's manifested, especially when you bring children into it, is extremely callous," Brolin elaborated.

Thanos has a fixed mentality, and once a character is fixated on a certain cause or belief, it's hard to convince him otherwise.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently screening in cinemas.
