Josh Brolin Almost Quit Superhero Movies After Jonah Hex

Josh Brolin may be the center of attention when it comes to superhero movies now, but he was almost very close to quitting the genre thanks to a 2010 film called Jonah Hex. Talking to ScreenRant, Brolin opens up about his failed superhero attempt, and talks about how he got the gig at Marvel.

Brolin explained:

"I like doing these other types of movies and whatever that means, and we kind of dipped our fingers into Jonah Hex and that didn't turn out so well. So I was like, you know, I had an intention for that movie and I didn't reach it."

Brolin only changed his mind after Marvel head Kevin Feige approached him and said that they have been planning for Brolin to play Thanos. Brolin continues:

"So I kind of stayed away from that thing but you know, there's something that happens when you have the opportunity, first when Kevin Fiege is talking to you, and from a really like [as] a fan, you know, base point of view and he's saying, 'We thought of this great story and we always saw you doing it.' And it's not the compliments necessarily, but it's like all the Avengers against you."

Feige was right when it came to Brolin because Thanos has come out to be one of the best villains in the MCU to date. He's powerful yet sympathetic, and by the end of the movie, you wouldn't exactly call him ‘evil.'

Right now, people are Deadpool 2 to come out so they can compare Brolin's Cable with Thanos. While not necessarily a villain, Cable in the sequel will be an antagonist to Wade Wilson who will be trying to stop him from killing Julian Dennison's character Russell a.k.a. Firefist.

Catch Brolin in either in Avengers: Infinity War (which is out now) or in Deadpool 2 which comes out May 18.
