Jon Bernthal Says Goodbye to The Punisher in Heartfelt Instagram Post

With the cancelation of Netflix's final Marvel shows imminent, it looks like Jon Bernthal is aware of what's going to happen and has decided to bid farewell to Frank Castle. The Punisher season 2 debuted on Netflix earlier this year but most of us had a feeling that it would be the last time we saw the character on the streaming service, given the fates of Daredevil, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage.

On Instagram, Bernthal gave a heartfelt farewell to the gun-toting vigilante with a picture of the character from one of his comics. Bernthal not only decides to thanks the fans for their support but also gives appreciation to the men and women who serve in the military, including the USMC soldiers who trained him for the role.

Bernthal first appeared as Frank Castle in Daredevil season 2, where he was essentially the second protagonist of the show. His friendship with Karen Page was an endearing part of the series and is why she appeared in a supporting role during the show's successful first season. While many of us were hoping he would appear in a future Defenders crossover, that won't be happening anytime soon now that Netflix is essentially cutting off all the Marvel properties.

Fans can still enjoy the second and first seasons of The Punisher on Netflix, which will likely stay in the service until contractual obligations put it on Disney's streaming service (or maybe even Hulu?). Jessica Jones season 3 is expected to come out later this year, which many are predicting will be the final one for the series as well.
