WB has just dropped a new trailer for Joker, and we got even more of Joaquin Phoenix's take on the Clown Prince of Crime. What's cool is, we also have three new posters to help is get hyped for the movie until October.

Personally, I think the posters are kind of minimalist for the film counting it's a comic book movie, but I imagine they can sell Joker with Phoenix's star power alone. Not every poster has to have all the actors on it, like with every big blockbuster film that comes out. Then again, Joker also promises to be a smaller, self-contained film.

With Todd Phillips saying he isn't drawing any inspiration from the comics, it's clear that there's a lot of influence from Martin Scorsese's films—particularly The King of Comedy and Taxi Driver. If anything, it feels like Phillips is remaking those films, and he's just using the character of Joker to replace Robert De Niro. I have to say, I can be nothing less than excited.

While Aquaman and Shazam! were more kid-friendly entries for the DCEU, I personally miss the more mature tone that Zack Snyder was going for when he made Man of Steel. I mean, Batman v Superman was kind of a narrative mess, but you could see the ambition that the filmmakers were going for. With Joker, it feels like we're getting a nice change in the genre after all these latest DC entries.

Catch Joker when it hits theaters Oct. 4.
